Its not hard to imagine, then, how the availability of JJOS impacted sales of the MPC 5000 (or the 500 for that matter). JJOS essentially created that situation for Akai by making the 1000/2500 into an arguably superior machine than its successor (the 5000). (What's more, just imagine if there was an amazing third party OS for those machines that was incompatible with the newer models.) Because if they could, then you have less of a reason to buy the new hardware. Its the main reason that the original MacBook and iMac Intel models can't run Lion. The intentional limiting of functionality in order to sell more units is well understood and well deployed in the electronics industry. If the machines were released being functionally the same, then its obvious that 2500 sales would suffer. That's because Akai understood that they needed some way of differentiating the models so they could sell the 2500. If you'll recall, when the 2500 was released, it had features that the 1000 didn't, although they are the same machine internals-wise. But JJOS (and mansell labs vailixi) makes it less likely that you will. JJ OS is a benefit to Akai until they release the next MPC, and the next one after that, and so on. I don't get how JJ did anything but help Akai.It helps to understand that Akai is first and foremost a hardware company. It'll be a cold day in hell before JJ works with Akai again. You best believe that there are some talented programmers at Akai right now, some of whom could write a fantastic OS for a given MPC, but they just can't.ĭon't expect these new MPCs to ever have compatibility with JJOS data. It wasn't until JJ was free of that corporate structure that he was free to explore the boundaries of what an MPC OS could be. Its become apparent that its the corporate handcuffing of talented programmers (that's an electronics-industry-wide phenomenon, by the way) that prevented Akai from developing an advanced OS in the first place. So JJ will likely never have anything to do with Akai again.Īnyway, without that series of events, there is no JJOS, because JJ remains an Akai employee/subcontractor.
They some how are much much much better programmer then those working inside akai companyJJ used to work for Akai. That would be good idea to ask them to join akai and write soft for them,
